Folly Arboretum Naturalist Activities is a series of programs held within the framework of natural science classes, which are available to kids in grades 1-5. in Badacsonyörs, on the grounds of Folly Arboretum.

Program overview

The aim of the sessions is to familiarize participants with plants, animals, and natural processes in a playful, practice-oriented way. The program covers topics such as the biology of germination, different methods of sowing seeds, and useful animals living in the garden such as pollinating insects, earthworms, birds, and bats.

  • The biology of germination – germinating seeds, using edible sprouts, tasting them.
  • The necessity of seed treatment - treating seeds with natural substances.
  • Sowing seeds using growing media.
  • Sowing seeds in other ways: using seed tapes.
  • Useful animals in the garden: earthworms, pollinating insects, songbirds, bats. Study their habitat and lifestyle by making models.
  • Pollination by insects, wind, and water. Making observation equipment.
  • Participation information

    Learning takes place during outdoor and indoor activities, based on crafts and observation. Each session lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes, and the activities take place on Saturdays between March and May, at several different times.

    Advance registration is required to participate. Admission to the arboretum is free for parents accompanying their kids.
