Inota Thermal Power Plant, Várpalota

Inota Thermal Power Plant, formerly known as November 7 Thermal Power Plant, was one of the largest Hungarian industrial investments of the 1950s, built on the eastern outskirts of Várpalota. The facility began operating in 1951 and supplied electricity for more than five decades, primarily to the neighboring aluminum smelter. The thermal power plant had a capacity of 320 MW, and its iconic cooling towers and monumental halls still dominate the landscape today.

Due to environmental pollution and technological obsolescence, it was permanently closed in 2001 and then partially demolished. In recent years, it has been given a new function: it has been revived as a venue for contemporary culture and audiovisual arts, offering a special atmosphere for festivals, exhibitions, and guided tours.
