Tapolca 2026 – On Water and Land: Movement Connects
The goal of the project is for Tapolca to become one of the key western strongholds of the Veszprém-Balaton European Region of Sport 2026 program series. The initiative, set to take place in June 2026, offers free sports activities at the City Beach. Its main goals are to increase physical activity among residents, make it easier to choose a sport, and lay the groundwork for a long-term District Health Plan.
The event is built around four main professional modules. As part of Tapolca Sports Expo, local sports clubs will hold demonstrations in both land-based and water-based zones, where interested participants can try out various combat sports, ball games, fencing, or even water polo and swimming. Community programs will include a ceremonial sports parade, a combined Water Heroes relay race, and stage fitness classes, accompanied by a stamp-collecting prize game. A key part of the program is the creation of the District Health Plan, for which anonymous health data will be collected from participants on-site via a mobile screening unit and dietary counseling. Additionally, in the spirit of equal opportunity, boccia will be showcased as a para-sport at a separate station.
