Tagore Promenade and Memorial Tree Park
Introduction
Tagore Promenade is the most well-known waterfront stretch in Balatonfüred, where nature, movement, and culture come together. The promenade is named after Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel Prize-winning Indian poet who regained his health here in 1926. Since then, many prominent public figures—poets, scientists, politicians—have planted trees in the memorial park, making the area a place not only for relaxation but also for reflection. Along the promenade, benches, statues, memorials, and shady trees accompany visitors, while the view of Lake Balaton is a constant presence.
Location & Accessibility
Tagore Promenade is located in the center of Balatonfüred, directly along the lakeshore. It is easily accessible on foot, by bicycle, or by public transport, and connects directly to the town’s main tourist attractions—such as the Heart Hospital, the harbor, and the Kossuth Spring. The promenade is open to visitors year-round and free to access.
