Somló Hill

Somló Hill is located on the western edge of the Bakony Hills, rising from the plain as a solitary hill, with its volcanic basalt formations and historical monuments. It is the smallest wine region in Hungary, where, in addition to the famous Juhfark, Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, and Furmint, special sparkling wines are also produced. The hill is dotted with chapels, castles, lookout towers, and cozy wine cellars, and its hiking trails can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or on horseback.

By car, it can be reached from Somlóvásárhely on Highway 8, by train to Somlóvásárhely station, then on foot towards the hill. There are several hiking trails leading to the hill from the surrounding settlements (Doba, Oroszi, Somlóvásárhely).
