Instead of the glitz, the cafés, and the nightclubs, it’s not the glamour and the sultry nights that take center stage this time. It is the postwar period, and the returning hero cannot find his beloved, but he stumbles upon his friends in a seedy bar, and it turns out that in turbulent times, true love, lost and adrift, flees into debauchery and depravity—from which it is almost impossible to escape. Unforgettable melodies and lines that resonate like poetry accompany us on your journey. With this production, we honor the memory of outstanding Győző Duró, our theater’s former great dramaturg, who now transports you once again to nostalgic Paris. The world premiere took place in 1998.

The performance’s unique visuals and uplifting aerial elements offer an extraordinary spectacle, while reflecting on the fragility and power of fate. SAME tells the story of the moment two people meet, and through their connection, they reevaluate their life paths and their relationship with themselves. The work combines the tools of contemporary dance and circus arts to explore the limits of the body, the interplay with gravity, and inner struggles, thereby fittingly representing the “Cirque Danse” style. SAME is about the duality of individual freedom and mutual understanding. It shows how movement shapes our self-image and how we strive for balance in our relationships. The performance offers a unique, hybrid experience by blending contemporary dance and circus movement—serving not only as a symbol of physical dynamics but also of the deep, emotional, and physical bond between the two performers.

Monday, 16 November 2026 19:00 - 22:00 At a secluded little hotel, popular novelist Paul Sheldon has just finished his latest book and, paying no heed to the harsh winter weather, happily sets off on his journey. But on a deserted Colorado highway, Paul’s car plunges into a ravine and would slowly be buried by the deep snow if a local woman, Annie Wilkes, hadn’t found him. She pulls the immobilized writer from the wreckage and takes him home so she can nurse him back to health. It seems Paul is truly incredibly lucky, since he survived the accident, and Annie is not only a trained nurse but, by her own admission, the writer’s biggest fan. Until he can walk again, Paul is forced to stay at Annie’s house, since the roads have been closed due to constant snowstorms, and even telephone service to the outside world has been cut off. Paul is therefore completely dependent on Annie, who is, of course, overjoyed that her beloved writer is enjoying her hospitality. He may have escaped the accident, but Paul is slowly forced to realize that his ordeal is far from over: there are more and more strange signs and oppressive circumstances, and Annie’s enthusiasm runs much deeper—and is far more demonic—than mere teenage fangirl adoration. The original Broadway production was created by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, in association with Castle Rock Entertainment, Liz Glotzer, Mark Kaufmann, Martin Shafer, and Raymond Wu. The play’s world premiere was staged by Executive Producer Jed Bernstein at the Bucks County Playhouse (New Hope, Pennsylvania, USA). The residents of a small, remote Jewish village clinging to their old customs—including Rose (Eleonóra Soltis), the protagonist of this monodrama—longed only for peace free from pogroms. They certainly didn’t want to leave. There wasn’t really anywhere to go, anyway. At most, Warsaw—with its promise of a better life—was a possibility. That’s where Rose moved, too. Then World War II broke out, taking her little girl and her husband—along with countless friends and acquaintances. Is it even possible to survive something like that? Rose managed to. She also had to come to terms with the bitter feeling of exile when the ship on which she and her fellow exiles were traveling to Palestine was not allowed to dock. Nowhere. In Martin Sherman’s monodrama, Rose—a well-to-do, elderly American woman—looks back on her life and the loved ones she has lost. Even in her darkest stories, there is irony and humor. Yet neither of them could have imagined that on that particular day in Oradea, their encounter would spark a new and passionate romance… one that would sweep them both away and shake Hungarian literature to its very foundations. The performance is a co-production of Petőfi Theater Veszprém and Horváth Renátó Production, presenting the passionate—and all the more turbulent—love story of Endre Ady and Léda through the language of dance in a full-length dance performance.
