Introduction

The Kis-Balaton Visitor Center is a complex created to showcase the region’s natural treasures, featuring interactive exhibitions, themed tours, and educational programs. Operating as part of the Balaton Uplands National Park, it plays a key role in environmental education. Visitors can learn about the wildlife, history, and protected areas of Kis-Balaton, while the site also holds cultural and ecotourism significance.

Location & Accessibility

The visitor center is easily accessible by car, located in the direction of Zalaegerszeg from the junction of Routes 71 and 76, and a dedicated bike path is also available. Access by public transport is more challenging: the nearest train stations are in Keszthely and Balatonszentgyörgy, from where buses run to the “Keszthely, Fenékpuszta, Festetics-major” stop. From there, it’s about a 30-minute walk along a dirt road through Fenékpuszta. The exhibition area and restrooms are fully wheelchair accessible.
