Approximately 1 kilometer from downtown Veszprém, in picturesque surroundings at the foot of Castle Hill, on its eastern side, lies the city's most exciting and beautiful destination:  Historia Gardens.

The northern side of the gardens is bordered by the renovated historic building of the former bishop's vacation house, the western side by the contours of the castle parapet stretching out to the horizon, while the south side is bordered by the view of the baroque buildings of the inner city and Óváros Square.

The nearly 4,000 m2 park is where the Monasteries and Gardens trail starts. The area is home to Hotel Historia, Mill Garden and Beer Garden, as well as the former Bishop's Rest, which today hosts numerous events, among them VeszprémFest premium music festival.

A brief history of the classicist Bishop's rest house:

Bishop József Kopácsy built a rest house here sometime in the first half of the 1800s, in keeping with the fashion of the time, when a "holiday home competition" was underway throughout the country , flaunting their power and wealth. We are definitely looking at one of the winners of this noble competition in Historia Gardens.
