Hajmáskér

Hajmáskér lies at the junction of the Bakony and the Balaton Uplands, with a rich historical and military heritage. The name of the settlement can be traced back to the conquering Kér tribe, and its churches are reminders of the Baroque era. One of Europe's largest artillery barracks and shooting ranges was built here during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, which later became a base for the Soviet army. Csárda Bridge, built on Roman foundations, and the multi-ethnic military cemetery are special attractions.

By car, it is accessible via Main Route 8, between Veszprém and Várpalota, or on the road connecting Gyulafirátót and Öskü. Long-distance trains run from the railway station to Budapest and Szombathely. By bus, it can typically be reached from Veszprém and Várpalota.
