Introduction
The Doll Museum is located in the center of Keszthely, in the heart of the pedestrian zone, and displays the largest collection of dolls in traditional costumes in Central Europe. The exhibition uses nearly 600 porcelain-headed dolls to evoke the folk costumes of historical Hungary, the clothing of craftsmen and citizens. In addition to the dolls, there are also models on display: Székely gates, folk houses, churches, and miniature replicas of legendary Lake Balaton boats.
The museum aims to introduce Hungarian and foreign visitors to the richness of Hungarian folk art, authenticly presenting the clothing culture of different regions from Kalotaszeg to Torockó and all the way to Kárpátalja. The exhibition is unique in its Transylvanian collection, and the architectural model exhibition on the third floor, which presents masterpieces of folk architecture.
