The Quest - Csongor & Tünde

Prince Csongor is searching for happiness. He meets Tünde, the beautiful fairy, but Mirigy, the evil witch, tries to tear them apart. Csongor struggles with obstacles, while his loyal friend, Balga, comes to his aid.  

Mihály Vörösmarty wrote his dramatic poem in 1830. Attila Dargay, the animator of Lúdas Matyi, Vuk, and The Treasure of the Swamp Castle, attempted to adapt it for the screen as early as the1870s, but the idea ultimately remained on the shelf. This ambitious project was revived by the production team at Cinemon Entertainment, who, following Dargay’s vision and based on the creator’s original character designs, a film rich in comical characters and folk-tale motifs—visually reminiscent of classic Hungarian fairy tales—that tells a story about the search for happiness, courage, and camaraderie.
