The Alchemy of Glass - Selection from the legacy collections of Zoltán Bohus and Mária Lugossy

Two prominent figures in contemporary Hungarian glass art, Zoltán Bohus and Mária Lugossy, will be on display at Laczkó Dezső Museum's new exhibition, which opens on November 20, 2025. The title of the exhibition refers to the virtuoso mastery that was able to transform everyday sheet glass into artistic niveau sculptural works. Although the artist couple have no joint works, their individual creative careers intersect in several points.

Both of their works were characterized by the use of cold glass technology, and both were driven by the desire to capture abstract concepts such as space and time in glass, using the changing internal transparencies of the material. Both are innovators in contemporary glass art, thanks to whom Hungarian glass art has gained international renown.
