Orphan

1957, Budapest. The city’s residents had barely recovered from the fighting of ’56 when the life of 12-year-old Andor, raised alone by his mother, experienced an unexpected turn of events: a man appeared who claimed to be his father, who had gone missing during the war. The young boy refuses to accept the stranger as his father, especially since the man has moved in with them. As the rift between mother and son deepens, Andor resolves to save his family at any cost.

László Nemes Jeles, the Oscar-winning director of Son of Saul, was inspired by the personal story of his own family.
