Although Hungarian ethnographic research and ethnographic museology have, in recent decades, been turning with increasing intensity toward contemporary topics, and the examination of social phenomena of the 20th and 21st centuries, yet—with the exception of a few isolated case studies— it has generally overlooked soccer.

Our museum strives to be at the forefront of efforts to preserve rural soccer culture in a museum setting, while also drawing attention to the importance of preserving and showcasing the characteristics and memories of local soccer culture right where they originated.
