The energy behind it – visiting 80+ power plants in one night

The Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (MEKH) is organizing the country's largest energy industry event, Power Plants &Night, on October 17, 2025. The aim of the program is to bring the world of energy and public utilities closer to the public and to show how electricity, heating, clean water, and district heating reach our homes.

More than 80 locations across the country joined in, including:

  • Alpiq – Csepel II Power Plant
  • Veolia – Budapest Power Plant Ltd. (Kelenföld Power Plant)
  • Püspökszilágyi Radioactive Waste Storage Facility
  • Hungarian Electricity System Control Room
  • MOL – Hungary's largest oil refinery
  • Public utility tunnel tour in Budapest
  • District heating service providers and district heating production facilities
  • Water utility providers and waste treatment plants
