Fun Science / With an optional planetarium show

We welcome the whole family to Agóra with an interactive, child-friendly science program. Admission ticket including one show of your choice: 2,500 HUF/person

In our theater, the Traveling Planetarium will enchant visitors with five different shows showcasing the wonders of the universe. On the ground floor, Bakony Astronomical Society will present a LEGO Mars rover, an interactive Touchable Universe exhibit, and a LEGO play corner, ensuring an informative and entertaining experience.

Tickets for the Planetarium show are valid for all programs in the Fun Science series:

• 360-degree planetarium shows for the whole family in a 7-meter dome,

• An interactive LEGO Mars rover workshop, the first of its kind in the country, offering an exclusive glimpse into robotic exploration of Mars,

• Touchable Universe program &– regardless of visual ability, anyone can explore the surfaces of our solar system’s celestial bodies through touch,

• LEGO play corner.

3:00 PM – 3:45 p.m. A Journey into the Wonderful World of the Planets (27 minutes)

Recommended age group: Ages 6 and up – adults

Accompanied by spectacular footage, we present the Solar System, from the inner regions all the way to the mysterious Kuiper Belt, while learning about the birth of stars and the formation of planetary systems. Our program offers a glimpse into the world of star formation and planet formation. Through detailed explanations and vivid visual elements, we will explore the formation of stars and planets, our planetary neighbors, their moons, and the Sun. We’ll examine the large planets of our solar system and also visit the dwarf planets. We’ll land and travel across the surface of Mars, then watch a spectacular solar eclipse and get a close-up view of the Sun’s surface. The program now includes astronomers’ latest discoveries in the field of dwarf planets!

3:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Story of Survival – Dinosaurs (26 minutes)

Recommended age group: Ages 6 and up – adults

A topic of interest to everyone, presented in a way that is understandable, exciting, and visually engaging for both kids and adults. The Evolution of Dinosaurs – Their Appearance, Diversity, and Extinction…

3:30 PM – 4:15 p.m. The Amazing Universe (24 minutes)

Recommended age group: Ages 8 and up – adults

The amazing wonders of the Universe in one show.

What is outer space really like? Will we freeze in it? Astronomers have been studying it for a long time. Interesting facts about the planets, the solar system, space stations, and star formation.

5:15 – 6:00 p.m. A Journey to Distant Worlds: Interplanetary Odyssey (37 minutes)

Recommended age group: Ages 8 and up – adults

With our spaceship, we explore the planets, interesting facts, and moons of the Solar System. Let’s discover what we didn’t even know about our neighboring worlds!

An informative, visually engaging educational program about the planets, designed for schoolchildren.

6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. From Earth to the Edge of the Universe (31 minutes)

Recommended age group: Ages 8 and up – adults

A fascinating journey through space and time, where we can explore scientific concepts about the Universe. Enjoy the journey and explore the path of scientific discoveries, from the theories of ancient Greek astronomers to the wonders revealed by today’s largest telescopes.

– How did early explorers study the universe, and what tools do we use today to study planets and celestial phenomena? What are today’s telescopes and space probes like?

– What do the planets of the Solar System look like up close, and what celestial phenomena exist beyond our Solar System?

Through spectacular images, we can explore the near and far reaches of the Universe.

The European Southern Observatory’s full-dome film spans astonishing distances in time and space. From the birth of the Universe to the final moments of the Solar System, we can trace the lives of stars and planets, the milestones of ancient and modern space exploration, and the relationship between humanity and outer space.

3:00 PM – 6:30 PM

LEGO Mars Rover Workshop

An interactive LEGO Mars rover workshop offers the first-ever exclusive glimpse into robotic exploration of Mars in the country. With Bakony Astronomical Society’s remote-controlled, programmable LEGO Mars rovers, kids can experience firsthand how to control these vehicles on a 4×3-meter-long Martian terrain table. Meanwhile, they will also learn firsthand about the latest findings in programming and space exploration. Thanks to the different structural compositions of the three Mars rovers, they reveal every exciting detail of this field of science in a dynamic way.

We demonstrate the movement of rock sample containers using the Clarke2001 rover’s manipulator arm. With the help of the Clarke2010 rover’s Wi-Fi camera, participants can follow what the visual reconnaissance robot detectsand control it accordingly. Our Pathfinder vehicle, built with a special suspension system, demonstrates the off-road capabilities of modern Mars rovers on the large terrain table set up for the activity.

Let’s explore the most exciting branch of space exploration through games and the latest achievements of modern technology!

Tactile Universe interactive program

Bakony Astronomical Society originally developed this program for the blind and visually impaired, but their models, accompanied by colorful, tactile elements and audio commentary, quickly became popular among sighted visitors as well. As an educational program, they succeeded in compiling a resource where anyone can explore the surfaces of the celestial bodies in our solar system through touch or sight. Each model comes with a written description, so with the help of smart devices, anyone can listen to the history of the formation of a given surface feature or celestial body.

LEGO play areas will also be available during the program.
