Csiribiri: A performance by Judit Halász
Alongside her acting career, Judit Halász has created a new genre as a performing artist. She has been singing the poems of Hungarian poets for decades—setting the best of Hungarian pop music to music—even for kids. Generations have grown up listening to her records. At the Csirbiri concert, you’ll hear a selection from the film concert’s musical repertoire , bringing together the most popular works from Judit Halász’s unique career.
Her most recent album, The Warrior, the Pirate, and Grandma, was released in the fall of 2021, followed in the fall of 2022 by a greatest-hits album titled The World Is Ours.
She considers her most important mission to be maintaining families’ and kids' interest in Hungarian poetry and, through the medium of song, to draw their attention—while entertaining them unobtrusively—to the many important laws of life to which we must adapt if we wish to live according to the ethics of humanism.
The kids—for the first time in Hungary—elected her a Dame of the Order of the Smile. She is a member of the Vígszínház theater company and a member of the board of UNICEF Hungary. The Hungarian state has awarded her the Jászai Mari – and Meritorious Artist—award, the Hungarian Order of Civil Merit, and the Kossuth Award for her work to date.
