February 4: Csokonai Carneval. "Carnival wine with a foaming Bottle. From which fantasy springs forth of the Muses. Fill me with living spirit, Let me dance with Ennius too." At the BotanicArt Oasis carnival event, we rediscover Csokonai Vitéz Mihály, Dorottya, or The Triumph of the Ladies at the Carnival. We will take a look at the world of old aristocratic entertainment and discuss traditional carnival recipes. As part of carnival celebrations, we will make spectacular masks with Rococo motifs reminiscent of the era.
February 11: tastes from the movie screen 2: Chocolate / Valentine's Day Surprises. In our new series, Tastes from Movies, we explore international feature films with a focus on culinary phenomena, special ingredients, and culinary traditions. We use the inspiration we draw from these films in our everyday lives. For the second time, on Valentine's Day, we will discuss Chocolat, Lasse Hallström's 2000 romantic comedy. Based on the novel of the same title by Joanne Harris, the film adaptation stars Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp. Edit Árkovics introduces us to the cultural history of chocolate consumption, and then we discover how the cocoa bean can enrich even everyday gastronomy with its unique flavors.
February 18, Ash Wednesday: on this day of strict fasting, we talk about abstinence and moderation. We review the history of self-restraint in gastronomy, old and modern fasts, and recipes that fit into a holistic approach.
February 25: Gastronomic Memories 2. Cities and Recipes: Saigon/Vietnam. In our series featuring Eszter Marton, our guests introduce the weekdays and unique cultures of the cities they have discovered. They also talk about their exciting experiences and favorite foods that they enjoyed during their travels. From the "gastro-memories" shared during the evening, we will select a dish that we will taste together. For the second time, we are staying on the Asian continent and visiting Vietnam, specifically Saigon, also known as Ho Chi Minh City. Eszter Marton, cultural community organizer and head of Varródoboz Community Textile Workshop, will also be participating.
