The thematic walks organized by the Archdiocese of Veszprém lead visitors to the renovated ecclesiastical spaces of Veszprém Castle.

In the footsteps of a thousand years of faith and art: the Gothic crypt (underground church), the Baroque tomb, the memorial to Saint Imre's vow, and the excavated rotunda await visitors.

Program overview

Starting from Biró-Giczey House, visitors can explore St. Michael's Cathedral, its crypt, and St. George's Chapel.

Participation information

Start: Saturday–Sunday 2:00 p.m. 

Only a limited number of people can take part in the weekend walks. Tickets and information are available at the on-site gift shop.
Tours can only be visited with a valid admission ticket. 

Themed guided tours in the Veszprém Castle District are subject to the following conditions of participation:

  • Visits are possible with advance booking or depending on the number of places available.
  • Comfortable, sporty clothing and closed shoes are required. Everyone participates at their own risk.
  • Only those over the age of 14 may apply for guided tours. Kids between the ages of 14 and 18 may only participate if accompanied by an adult and with a signed parental consent form.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

St. Michael's Cathedral can be viewed without purchasing a ticket, however, visiting hours and guided tours may be affected by Mass schedules and other liturgical events, so please take this into account. The vestibule of the Cathedral is open to visitors during opening hours and is open to anyone for spiritual reflection and prayer.
