Alaine – A Time to Die
A young actress and an eighty-year-old puppet. The two of them, yet alone—alone, yet two. Fifty minutes of shockingly simple storytelling about the inevitable. Because everything has its appointed time. Even death.
"Yet I definitely feel that I’m still a woman. In fact, I’m now more aware of things I never noticed before—like when a man approaches me, he shakes my hand differently, or something like that. It’s funny that this is possible at eighty-plus. It’s comical—even tragicomic, when I think about it. But I rarely think about it, especially after turning eighty-three.”
Lyrics by Alaine Polcz, songs by Katalin Karády, as well as a unique artistic form that blends dramatic theater, dance, and puppetry, in Anna Markó-Valentyik’s latest solo performance.
The songs performed in the show were written by Tamás Bródy, Dénes Buday, Dénes György G., and János Rákosi. The use of the songs was authorized by UMPA agency.
