János Lackfi

János Lackfi: poet, writer, literary translator – a multifaceted figure in contemporary Hungarian literature

János Lackfi (born János Oláh) was born in Budapest in 1971. He is a József Attila Prize-winning poet, writer, translator, teacher, editor, photographer, and one of the best-known and most versatile figures in contemporary Hungarian literature. He has published more than 70 books, half of which are poetry and half prose, for both adults and children. In addition, he has translated more than 40 volumes from French.

How long has it been active?

His first publication appeared in 1987, and he has been a constant presence in literary life ever since. His first book, entitled "Magam" (Myself), was published in 1992. He taught at Pázmány Péter Catholic University for 17 years and worked with more than 10,000 students.
