Hungarian Martial Arts Open House and Exhibition Opening
We are holding an open house at Szmrecsányi Hall, where on this occasion we will showcase various disciplines of Hungarian martial arts: equestrian martial arts, saber fencing, and horse training—which is indispensable to the former two.
And speaking of art… this event also serves as the closing ceremony and the opening of its exhibition will also take place on this occasion at Lovarda Gallery. 
This small village in the Balaton Uplands has been home to an active equestrian community for decades, it serves as a venue for national and international competitions, and is one of the strongholds of the Kassai Equestrian School. As a result of weekly training sessions, not only are the riders achieving ever-greater competitive success, but the horses are also being trained to a high-level standard.
The club’s members are committed to mastering and practicing “artistic” riding. If you’re curious about what this means, join us on this day!
Starting in the fall of 2025, instructors from our Academy will hold weekly sabre fencing training sessions for adults at the equestrian center in Barnag. The saber is one of the iconic weapons of Hungarian history. During the training sessions, we will learn historical fencing techniques, which gives visitors a taste of the program, and those who are interested can even try their hand at it.
The program will be enlivened by musical performances from: Andrea Navratil, Liszt Prize-winning folk singer; Márton Legeza, hurdy-gurdy player and Young Master of Folk Art; László Demeter, Bartók Memorial Prize-winning kobza player, Miklós Félgyházi, a student majoring in artist-teaching at the Department of Folk Music at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music
Participation in the program is free; the event is part of the “Draw Your Sword!” - Historical Military Academy in the Veszprém-Balaton Region, and is being implemented as part of the Veszprém-Balaton European Region of Sport 2026 Program.
