Mambo Maternica

Borbála Nagy’s first feature film explores the issues surrounding parenthood through three parallel personal stories. Adél (Orsolya Török-Illyés), who lives in Paris, does not want to face a pregnancy. In Budapest, Nóra (Vera Sipos) hides the fact that she and her husband (Zoltán Schmied) want to adopt a child. In Berlin, Becky (Rozália Székely) tells her family that she wants to be a single mother.

The lives of these three women in their forties have reached a turning point: they must make life-changing decisions in the span of a single day. Each of them is struggling with an initial problem, whether it’s infertility, abortion, or raising a child alone. However, the supposed solutions only lead to even more complications.
