Don't Worry, Sári!

Sári Haragonics’s personal, bittersweet documentary is about her own family: a mother who, though she wanted to record everything, was unable to learn how to operate a video camera even after 25 years; a film director’s daughter who, after losing her mother, uses the camera to keep her family together; and three men who, on the surface, seem to merely put up with it all, while it nevertheless has an unnoticed impact on their lives.

During filming, Sári realizes that she has not only inherited her mother’s filmmaking ambitions, but also her tendency to want to solve everything for others. In her film, the interweaving of present-day and family archive footage, voice messages, and dreams paints a sensitive picture of how the overlapping layers of the present and the past interact within our family relationships.

Don't Worry, Sári! won the Audience Award at the 22nd Verzio Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.
