Blue Heron

In the late 1990s, a Canadian-Hungarian family moves into their new home on Vancouver Island. However, their fresh start is disrupted by the increasingly dangerous behavior of Jeremy, the family’s oldest child. The granddaughter of legendary set designer József Romvári, Sophy Romvari’s debut film explores family dynamics and internal relationships through the eyes of the youngest child, Sasha. This film, with its personal tone, exciting use of time, and occasional documentary-style techniques, won the Best Debut Film award at Locarno.
