A Restored Past

A documentary film about poet Péter Dobai, who, as a screenwriter, co-wrote screenplays with István Szabó for such film classics as Mephisto, Colonel Redl, and Hanussen. In addition to archival footage, his colleagues, and friends recall his controversial persona, as image and spirit intertwine. The Kossuth Award-winning filmmaker passed away during the post-production of this biographical film, and so A Restored Past also became a film of remembrance.
