Introduction
Csesznek is a village in the heart of the Bakony Mountains, distinguished by its medieval castle and the surrounding gorges. The settlement’s history dates back to the 14th century, with cultural heritage sites including the Reformed prayer house and the Catholic church. Nature lovers can enjoy Kőmosó Gorge, Cuha Valley, and the Tarack Hill lookout point, while the castle ruins remain a favorite destination for history enthusiasts.
Location & Accessibility
The village can be reached directly from Route 82 or via Bakonyszentkirály, from the direction of Dudar. Public transport is mainly provided by regional bus services (from Veszprém/Zirc, Győr, and Dudar), stopping along the main road (Suttony) or in the village center (Vendéglő). Porva-Csesznek railway station is a considerable hike from the center, but ideal for excursions in the Cuha Stream valley.
