This year, the central theme of Veszprém Spring Exhibition is "Arboretum." The aim of the exhibition is to use the tools of contemporary art to explore this multifaceted, symbolic and topical concept, providing space for different forms of visual thinking. The arboretum (from the Latin arbor/élevőfa'/), is primarily a collection of plants serving scientific and aesthetic purposes, a botanical garden in which trees and shrubs are presented in a systematic manner, often in a park-like or natural environment. The arboretum symbolizes the relationship between humans and nature, the intention to organize, care, and preservation, as well as the diversity of the living world.

With this in mind, we announced our competition, which received more than 300 entries. The entries were judged by a professional jury (Katalin Izinger, art historian – Szent István Király Museum, Székesfehérvár, and József Zakar, art historian – Kossuth Lajos Museum, Cegléd) reviewed the entries and selected the 102 works that will be displayed in our institution's exhibition spaces. This year's selection is technically very diverse: in addition to traditional fine art techniques, it also features textiles, glass, photography, camera-less photography, digital art, sculpture, video, electrography, ceramics, and various installations.
In connection with the exhibition, we are working with such wonderful arboretums as Folly Arboretum in Badacsonyörs, Szépalmapuszta Arboretum created by Count Endre Pejacsevich, and Szelestey Arboretum. During the exhibition, we are preparing a number of programs in collaboration with the arboretums.
The opening of Spring Exhibition is always a joyful occasion for personal encounters. This year, as in previous years, the opening will be followed by a festive award ceremony. We cordially invite all artists and art lovers to Veszprém, to view the fine and applied art works filling the exhibition spaces of Dubniczay Palace and Csikász Gallery.
We warmly recommend the Veszprém Spring Exhibition to all art lovers and interested parties!
