Pannon Várszínház’s popular musical will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its premiere in 2026. The anniversary tour will conclude on December 30 at ONE Veszprém Arena—with a special, grand-scale celebratory performance.

Music by László Dés, Péter Geszti’s lyrics, and Pál Békés’s theatrical legacy have become defining theater experience for generations.

This exceptionally popular musical, based on Kipling’s novel, interprets the jungle as a mirror image of human society. In this context, the wild animals—endowed with human traits—represent the better half of our existence: they are tough but sincere, and jungle society lives according to nature’s inviolable, strict laws. Mowgli, who grows up here, fights his great battles, but he is nearly defeated by the cunning and often despicable forces of human society. Yet a force unique to Homo sapiens ultimately draws him back into human society: love. In the play’s stirring finale, a new human couple— the Adam and Eve of our time, stand face to face with a world awaiting redemption. 

The musical world of these exciting and beautiful scenes is stirring, uplifting, and often filled with irresistible humor. The songs and lyrics, with their layers of irony, come to life through hilarious wordplay and outstanding musical parodies. The Jungle Book is one of those rare productions that speaks primarily to young people, yet its role as a life model offers fundamental insights, experiences, and catharsis for audiences of all ages.
