Exciting things are in the works in 9 towns across the country

The “A Cup of Love” campaign will launch again in 2026.  At participating bakeries and restaurants, families can sample St. Nicholas' tea.

Kids can also pay for their tea with a storybook. They don't need to buy a new book: all they need to do is bring a storybook from home that’s in good condition—one they’ve already read and think other kids might enjoy.

The essence of this charitable initiative is simple: a story that has already been read in one family can be a new and exciting story for another kid. St. Nicholas “recycles” the donated storybooks and delivers them to communities that don’t have a library.

This year, the Maltese Charity Service—which operates a school in Heves County that serves disadvantaged children—will deliver the collected gifts to the school.

Where can you find Santa's tea in 2026?

The family St. Nicholas' program is available in several towns across Hungary, so you can even combine your visit with an Advent outing.

The announced location and times:

  • Siófok: #hashtEGG Toyee Adventure Park – December 4
  • Balatongyőrök: Promenade Café – December 2
  • Balatonlelle: Márton Pastry Shop – December 1–20
  • Tihany: Énidő Specialty Cafe – December 4, 11, and 12
  • Budapest: Egy csipet torta — December 2–19
  • Telki: Kovácsda — December 2
  • Bükfürdő: Jóská Bácsi Brasserie – November 12, December 7–8
  • Páty: Kovácsda – December 2
  • Balatonfüred: Bergmann Pastry Shop, December 2–20

Why is this Santa Claus program a good choice for kids?

St. Nicholas’s Tea is more than just a simple Advent gathering: it’s a family event that combines quality time together with charitable giving.

  • A fun family experience: you can explore the connection sites together with your kids.
  • Charity in a fun way: by passing on a storybook, kids can also experience the joy of giving.
  • Advent relaxation: a cup of hot tea and a winter outing are great opportunities to recharge together.
  • A valuable message: this initiative shows that the Christmas season is also about thoughtfulness and caring for one another.

What kind of St. Nicholas' event should you choose to attend with your kids in December?

If, in addition to the traditional St. Nicholas' gift-giving this year, you’d like to enjoy a more meaningful Advent family activity, St. Nicholas’s Tea is a great choice. Whether as part of a weekend trip to the towns around Lake Balaton, or as an afternoon family outing in Budapest or the surrounding area, you can easily fit it into your plans.

Don’t forget to bring your storybook to pass along at home!

A cup of tea, a story passed on, and a little love—sometimes that’s all it takes to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.
