Neurotics Jamboree - Part of the Central Theater's Summer Program Series

Between August 17 and 22 Woody Allen’s latest comedy, Neurotic Jamboree, starring Gábor Hevér, Nóra Parti, Dorina Martinovics, Tamás Szabó Kimmel, and Eszter Balla

Timid and disappointed Fay and the and slightly hapless Richard seem like the perfect match—just like the popular drama writer Jake and his sharp-tongued political scientist wife, Sheila. However, the proposal—intended to be an intimate affair—takes a new turn when Jake’s unpredictable ex, Boots, shows up. Instead of soft Brie cheese, there are heated arguments; and wild outbursts instead of a quiet glass of wine—that’s what awaits the characters in Woody Allen’s latest play, who prove beyond doubt that even a simple dinner can turn into pure madness.

“Neurotic Jamboree is the play of words. There are two types of neurotic people: one who is anxious and doesn’t speak, and the other who talks a lot precisely because they’re anxious. Woody Allen belongs to the latter type. He constantly has his characters talking. The jokes come thick and fast, and you really have to get the timing just right; otherwise, the humor doesn’t come across,”

– said Gábor Hevér, whom the audience will see in the role of the playwright.

“You often feel that your life is pure madness, even though you’re in completely ordinary, everyday situations. The characters in the play may even seem normal, but by the end of the performance, they descend into total chaos, and that’s what makes the whole thing truly pure madness,”

— added Eszter Balla.

The performance is a one-act play and lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes.
