Palace Concerts 2026: Cantica Aeterna

On the third evening of the 2026 Palace Concerts series, Cantica Aeterna will perform in the ceremonial hall of the Archbishop’s Palace.

The ensemble’s concert, titled “The Sounds of La Serenissima,” evokes the musical world of Monteverdi and the Venetian masters of the early 17th century.

The program takes the audience to a special moment in the early Baroque era: a time when Venice’s musical life introduced new forms, new sounds, and new means of expression to Europe. At the concert, works by the Venetian masters will be performed in a historic setting—the ceremonial hall of the Archbishop’s Palace, which was recently restored.

The Story of 'Cantica Aeterna'

Formed in early 2023, Cantica Aeterna’s repertoire focuses on vocal works that sound truly wonderful when performed by a small sound truly good when performed by a small ensemble. The singers are not bound to any single period or genre in music history: they select compositions for their programs that are defining works of their own era and and in which the diversity of the human voice can be fully realized.

The ensemble made its debut in Rome, and later performed on the stage of Müpa. They gave their first public solo concert in Hungary at the Lóvasút Cultural and Event Center.

In the summer of 2023, at the invitation of the Hungarian Institute in Helsinki, they performed as guest artists in Finland: on the occasion of the Night of the Arts, they gave church music concerts in several churches in Helsinki. That same year, they also made their debut with a solo concert at the Sursum Corda Festival.

The combination of period instruments and the vocal ensemble fits well with thehistorical setting of the Archbishop’s Palace, where, during the Palace Concerts, music and Baroque spaces resonate in perfect harmony.

The concerts will take place in the Grand Hall of the Archbishop's Palace. Doors open 30 minutes before the concert.
