The time has come for young Prince Benedict to finally get married. When he sees a painting of Princess Karolina, he is completely enchanted by her and immediately falls in love with her. Dressed as a gardener, he sneaks into the princess's court and tries to win her heart in disguise. But Karolina rejects him. Benedikt does not give up, however, and the young couple eventually fall in love. Their happiness is short-lived, however. They are soon forced to flee when the princess is promised to another man.
