Fish from Lake Balaton

The Balaton Museum's permanent exhibition presents one of the most exciting aspects of the lake's living world: the fish of Lake Balaton. The aim of the exhibition is to bring visitors closer to the fish species living in Lake Balaton, their way of life, their role in the ecosystem, and local culture.

Interactive installations, aquariums, specimens, and digital content help us learn about perch, bream, catfish, and many other species. The exhibition is not only interesting from a natural science perspective, but also from an ethnographic and gastronomic point of view: it presents the history of fishing, the tools used, and the traditions of Balaton fish dishes.
