Dr. Zoltán Korsós’s closing guided tour on World Animal Day at the OKINAWA MI AMOR —My Love, Okinawa exhibition.
Dr. Zoltán Korsós, zoologist and former director general of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, spent three years in the subtropical archipelago in southern Japan from 2009–2012. He visited 53 of the 60 inhabited islands, where he studied the biology of soil-dwelling arthropods. He first shared his unique experiences on his blog, and then in the book based on it, he presented them to readers. This long-awaited volume aims to introduce readers to this distant, almost unknown world, the local people, the isolated, unique cultures, and the exotic, rare wildlife. From the 50,000 photos taken during the expedition, half were selected to create the Ryukyu Archipelago, presented with the support of the Hungarian Natural History Museum.
This project has been designated by the French Ministry of Culture as part of the Bicentennial of Photography and is included in the official program of the Bicentennial from September 1, 2026 and September 30, 2027.
