A 5-day course with graphic artist Zsuzsi Medve

The goal of the workshop is for participants to rediscover the joy of drawing and let go of the expectations associated with a “beautiful drawing.”  The emphasis is on intuitive creation, playfulness, and experimentation.

What will happen over the course of these 5 days?

Participants will go through a gradually unfolding creative process in which they move from the feeling of “I can’t draw” to creating their own visual world.

During the first few days, the usual need for control and the pressure to perform gradually dissolve. Participants discover that drawing is not about meeting expectations, but about play, movement, and discovery. The starting point is chance, doodling, and intuitive line work.

As the process unfolds, images, spaces, and stories emerge more and more consciously from these spontaneous forms. Participants begin to make associations, search for meaning, and recognize their own visual motifs. The drawings will no longer be separate exercises, but parts of a cohesive visual world.

In the middle days, connection and interaction come to the fore: forms react to one another, stories emerge, and the images enter into a dialogue with each other and with their creators.

By the final day, a personal “visual universe” emerges, in which participants create according to their own rules. By this point, drawing is no longer a task but a natural means of expression—a language in which intuition and playfulness find balance. At the end of the process, most participants leave not only with new artistic experiences, but also with a more liberated creative attitude.

At the end of the workshop, participants will compile a mini-manual from their own workinto a mini-book, which we bind together using a Japanese binding technique. This small publication is a personal imprint of the 5-day creative process: a tangible summary of the journey from a doodle to the universe.

To mark the end of the course, we will also present the completed mini-books in the form of a pop-up exhibition.
