May 6: Monastery Gardens – Medieval Cuisine

The Gizella Days event series is one of the most popular festivals in the city of Veszprém.

At BotanicArt Oasis club, we also commemorate our first queen and learn about the gardening culture established by the Benedictine monks and nuns near several monasteries and royal residences, including Veszprém.

In Western Europe, monastic gardening was based on Capitulare de villis (a kind of horticultural regulation). The Benedictines brought this tradition with them and established orchards, herb, vegetable, and ornamental gardens in Pannonhalma, Tihany, Bakonybél, and Veszprém Valley as well.

On May 6, we will discuss the plants in these gardens and look at examples of how we have refashioned traditional monastic gardening to meet the challenges of the 21st century (Melk, St. Gallen, Bakonybél, Pannonhalma…) Of course, we’ll also sample dishes made from plants that were used in the Middle Ages.

May 13 International Cocktail Day

We invite everyone interested to join us on an exciting journey to celebrate International Cocktail Day, where we’ll explore the history of cocktails from the very beginning all the way to today’s latest trends. We’ll talk about legendary drinks, iconic stories, and how modern gastronomy is shaping bar culture.

During the presentation, we’ll offer a glimpse into the creative world of signature cocktails, as well as briefly touching on the latest innovations and trends in modern mixology. Our goal is to show how a drink becomes more than just a simple refreshment— a true experience that tells a story through these tastes and aromas. As a special highlight of the evening, Balázs Taba will prepare a unique cocktail for every participant to sample. This drink will not only tie in with the topics discussed, but will also serve as a kind of essence of the perspective represented by our speaker.

We believe this event will be exciting for anyone interested in gastronomy, are open to new experiences, or simply want to spend an inspiring evening in a pleasant atmosphere.

We warmly welcome everyone to a relaxed yet meaningful gathering, where cocktails become stories in a glass.
