How do Hungarians living in the United States preserve their Hungarian identity? Who are the people working day in and day out to ensure that the Hungarian language and culture live on overseas?

Our guest is Ildikó Antal-Ferencz, a freelance journalist of Transylvanian descent with a degree in economics, who lived in New Jersey from 2022 to 2025. During that time, she became actively involved in the life of local Hungarian communities and wrote more than 200 articles on the diaspora, including more than 120 life story interviews with Hungarians in North America.

Also featured is the memoir Életem (My Life)—partly written and edited by Ildikó Antal-Ferencz—a diaspora memoir connected to 1956 that recounts the life story of an 88-year-old Hungarian-American community builder living in Connecticut.

Personal stories, community narratives, and reflections on what it means to be Hungarian—and to remain Hungarian—in America.
