BBT-led e-bike tour: Vineyard tour with wine tasting at Zelna

Meeting & Departure

We look forward to seeing you at Zelna Bistro. Bicycle pickup and setup will take place before departure, followed by a briefing on the program and a test ride. We begin our tour with a leisurely bike ride on a bike path toward the Tihany Peninsula. After a short climb, we’re already cycling through the interior of the peninsula, in a wooded, hilly landscape.

Tihany Farkasverem

We reach Tihany Farkasverem area by cycling along dirt roads. The volcanic rocks and the special warm microclimate create an ideal environment for viticulture. Then we continue toward the romantic village of Sajkod, still traveling along the peninsula. We’ll be pedaling almost right up to Lake Balaton—we’ll get that close to the water. Leaving the peninsula behind, we’ll turn toward Aszófő.

Penke and Nyerges vineyards

After Aszófő, leaving the asphalt behind, we tackle the climbs more easily in the saddle of our e-bikes. Above Balatonszőlős, we visit the newer vineyards of Zelna Winery, Penke and Nyerges vineyards known for their limestone soil.

Farkó-kő

Turning back toward the lake, we find ourselves once again among the vine arbors and can now admire Tihany from a distance, we can admire Tihany and the landscape we have left behind. The uniqueness of Farkó-kő lies not only in its climatic conditions but primarily in its limestone subsoil. In addition to the calcareous limestone, we also frequently encounter here fossil remains originating from ancient Tethys Ocean , which are unique to the area.

Back to Balatonfüred

From here, it takes just a few minutes to reach the bustling promenade of Balatonfüred again, and at Zelna Bistro, a wine tasting awaits us, where we can sample several varieties and put the finishing touch on the day.
