Balaton Bike Tour (BBT)

A leisurely forest hike that’s just a walk in the park—no steep climbs, no significant elevation changes—or a family outing? Yes! Now you can have it all at once: We’ll take you over easy terrain and asphalt, touching both the peak and the heart of the Bakony Hills. We designed this route so that you can complete it on light e-bikes—which offer the closest experience to traditional mountain biking—if you feel you have the strength. If, on the other hand, you’re just looking for the light, effortless rides that offer true relaxation, choose a standard e-bike and simply enjoy the beautiful panoramic views. This tour offers fun for the whole family at once—just the way everyone likes it—depending on the bike you choose.

StartOur tour starts at Tündér Farm near Zirc, where we’ll adjust the bikes, take a test ride—perhaps visiting the farm’s animals—and set off.

PorvaWe start on asphalt, followed by easy terrain. After a short, steeper climb, we reach a ridge from which we can already admire the gently rolling slopes of the Bakony. Passing through the houses of Porva, we approach the foot of the Bakony’s peak.

Kőris HillAfter a 10-km warm-up, we climb nearly 300 meters on a gravel road interspersed with slopes, to the Péter Vajda Lookout on Kőris Hill—which, despite its name, is covered in beech trees for quite a long stretch. We take a breather, admire the view and the new radar station, and then we’re off again.

BakonybélWe begin a nearly 9-kilometer ride on a mix of asphalt and gravel, and we arrive in Bakonybél, where an unmistakable blue well, the Szentkút, or perhaps an ice cream stand awaits us. We need to rest not only on the climbs but also on the long descents. So we can take a break on the terrace of a café across from the Monastery of St. Mauritius, or near the Chapel of St. Gellért, or on the shore of the small pond lined with weeping willows fed by the Szentkút. Of course, we won’t miss the Blue Well either; we’ll fill our water bottles there.

PáliháláspusztaWe bid farewell to Bakonybélt, and if we feel like it, we can make a short detour to another lookout point, and then we’ll take a pleasant, gentle climb back onto the road home through Páliháláspuszta, past the Pálinka House. Unfortunately, there’s no rest stop here :)

ArrivalUpon returning to Tündér Farm, we discuss and reflect on our shared experiences.
