On January 23, we invite you to a special evening where, over a pleasant dinner, you can learn about the history of a wine-making tradition that is more than 740 years old!!
The Archdiocese of Veszprém — whose legal predecessor was the Diocese of Veszprém — has a history of viticulture dating back to 1277, which is continuous and unique in Hungary. The wines come from two historic estates:
- Mindszentkálla — the legendary Püspökdomb, owned by the church since 1277, with volcanic soil and wines with a mineral, salty character.
- Felsőörs – an archdiocese since 1910, with clayey-margose soil, where mainly elegant white wines are produced.
We are now bringing this heritage to Olivà – with a six-bottle wine selection and dreamy dishes.
During the evening, Antal Benesh, the young head sommelier of the cellar, will guide us through the wines, history, and traditions of the Archdiocese Winery.
