Kabócoiádé Family Family Festival is one of Veszprém’s longest-running events: this year, it opens the gates of its fairy-tale realm to families for the 33rd time. The program of this multidisciplinary festival is enriched not only by Kabóca Puppet Theater’s own performances but also by productions from invited artists, allowing visitors to enjoy a diverse, high-quality experience year after year.
The event, held every year on the last weekend of June, is hosted by Queen Boróka, well-known to kids, who personally meets with families during the programs: telling stories, playing games, and happily introducing the little ones to the festival’s magical world.
The main venue for the outdoor event is the park on Deák Ferenc Street, home to Kabóca Puppet Theater, but the programs, which expand year after year, also find a home at one of the city’s most unique venues, Love Island.
The festival offers experiences for all ages: concerts, puppet shows, giant puppets, themed play areas, craft workshops, educational pavilions, and dance workshops await visitors— from the youngest children all the way up to grandparents.
One of the event’s most unique and eagerly anticipated programs is the nighttime adventure tour, which is considered a real curiosity. Participants set out by the light of their lanterns to work together to solve the current mysteries: defeat Death, outwit a fire-breathing dragon, or face other fairy-tale challenges. Throughout the adventure, the kids receive every bit of help they need from the theater staff, ensuring that their journey through Kabóciádé will once again be an unforgettable experience.
