Winter bucket list – 7 things you shouldn't miss if you're visiting Veszprém and the surrounding area

We are slowly approaching the end of January, but many people are still searching for motivation for the new year. Did you make a resolution that you may not have been able to keep? Don't worry, we've put together 7 program ideas with the help of which you can compile your own bucket list. This time, however, we are not focusing on the entire collection, but on the experience itself.

For many, January is one of the bleakest times of the year: the holidays are over, but spring is still far away, the cold and early darkness can often have a negative effect on our mood. Although we have absolutely nothing to complain about so far, as we have enjoyed many wonderful moments over the past few weeks: from the snowfall that lasted for several days to the ice on Lake Balaton. And that's not all: Veszprém and the region have even more memorable experiences in store – even during the off-season.

1. Discover the winter side of Veszprém!

Whether it's a sunny, warmer day or a foggy one, wherever your journey takes you, the view is sure to captivate you. The recent period has inspired us too: browse through the photo gallery for the most beautiful moments.

2. Experiences for all ages – find the best family activities

There is no better program than being away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and break away from the daily grind to spend quality time together with your family. Whether it's a funny theater performance, outdoor adventures, or playful activities, the time spent together will not only be fun, but will also recharge your batteries for the long, cold winter days.

3. Immerse yourself in cultural programs

Fortunately, there are many cultural programs to choose from during this period, whether you are traveling with friends, family, or your partner. Browse through the best theater performances, concerts, and exhibitions, and in February, Off-Season Literary Festival returns to Veszprém, focusing on the subgenres of literature. Exciting book presentations, discussions, and musical programs await literature lovers.

4. Try as many winter sports as possible!

Although the ice on Lake Balaton is currently unsuitable for skating, there are still several skating rinks to choose from in the region if you feel like taking a spin. For those who enjoy active sports, sledding and the ski slope in Eplény are also not to be missed.

5. Set new goals!

You've been to many places in the region, but haven't seen all the educational mountains yet? It's time to visit them all this year! In 12 months, 12 experiences, not only the hills, but also the most beautiful views can be added to your list.

6. Attend an exciting gastronomic event

What better way to wind down after exercise than with a delicious meal? Veszprém and the Bakony-Balaton region offer a wealth of culinary delights during this period, whether it's a visit to a craft market, a cozy wine bar, or themed workshops.

6. Capture Lake Balaton and the region on camera

Do you like photography? Then this is a great opportunity to combine a photo shoot with a trip. There are countless photo opportunities to choose from in the region: hike in the Bakony Hills, where you can choose from lesser-known trails such as Ördög-árok (Devil's Ravine) or Cuha Valley. If you prefer to head for the lake, you can chase the most beautiful sunsets on the shores of Lake Balaton. We have also collected our favorite winter photos inspired by the "Hungarian Sea."

Remember, the experiences won't wait until the end of the year! Put together your own bucket list and follow the latest programs on helloveb.hu.
