"One More Wish" to Premiere at Filmpicnic—Program Now Complete
The program for the revamped Veszprém-Balaton Film Picnic is now complete. We look forward to welcoming the public with approximately seventy feature and documentary films, as well as a rich selection of short films and animation. The festival awaits the public from August 27–29 in Veszprém and Balatonfüred. The film One More Wish, directed by Kata Dobó and Fanni Szilágyi, will be screened prior to its premiere. The film stars Mariann Hermányi and L. Gellért Kádár, with supporting roles by Beatrix Trill and Danny T. Meet-and-greets, concerts, and kids' programs will make the festival’s offerings even more exciting. A discussion titled “What Is a Movie Without Music?” will feature Balázs Ádám, János Másik, István Márta, and Csaba Kalotás, who will reveal behind-the-scenes secrets about how a composer works with a film director. Two films will have their premieres at the summer film festival. András Kollmann’s anthropological documentary, Weather Bound – The Anthropology of Flow, will premiere on August 27 at 6:00 p.m. at FOTON. The film portrays a community whose members reorganize their daily lives in accordance with the whims of the weather. In a world dominated by schedules and efficiency, these extreme sports enthusiasts— kitesurfers, windsurfers, and paragliders— follow the rhythm of forecasts, cloud movement, and atmospheric uncertainty. Weather Bound explores the fragile balance between humans and nature through their lives.
Tamás Buvári’s film Earth and Iron, a film based on true events, will also make its debut at Filmpicinc on August 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Hangvilla. Starring Lilla Buvári, Zsolt Trill, and Kinga Tutós-Máté, the film unfolds across three time periods— 1947, 1985, and 2025, the play explores various forms of separation from home: the expulsion of Germans from Hungary after World War II, the resettlement of Hungarian citizens from Transylvania in the 1980s, and the wave of migration toward Western Europe in the 2020s.
On August 29 at 7:30 p.m., Hangvilla will host a pre-premiere performance featuring Mariann Hermányi and L. Kádár Gellért, as well as Beatrix Trill and Danny T. in key roles, will be featured in a preview screening of One More Wish. Juli Takács, a music manager nearing the end of her twenties, has become complacent both in her work and her personal life. Her routine weekdays take a dramatic turn when she comes across a wish book that allows her to make anything in the world disappear. Due to a professional blunder, she finds herself in a tight spot, and her only way out is to launch an unknown band. To do this, she begins using the wish journal, which, after a while, becomes filled with increasingly extreme wishes… In Kata Dobó and Fanni Szilágyi’s film, every wish has consequences.
The roundtable discussion titled "What Is a Movie Without Music?" is loosely connected to this film. The event will take place on August 28 at 4:00 p.m. in Nyárkert, featuring — Ádám Balázs, János Másik, István Márta, and Csaba Kalotás will reveal behind-the-scenes secrets about how a composer works with a film director.
From August 27–29, 2026, the renewed Filmpiknik will welcome audiences to Veszprém and Balatonfüred with a lineup of approximately 70 feature-length fiction and documentary films, along with an outstanding selection of short films and animated works.
In addition to premieres, moviegoers will have the chance to see acclaimed films released over the past year, including Ildikó Enyedi's award-winning Silent Friend, audience favorites such as Feels Like Home, Passionate Women, and Love, Forgotten, as well as unique cinematic gems including Spring Wind, The Inner Space, Hen, and Random.
