South Balaton Wine Route Association
The Balatonboglári Wine Region and South Balaton Wine Association is the professional and tourism umbrella organization for the wine regions located on the southern shore of Lake Balaton. The wine region comprises 37 settlements with approximately 3,200 hectares of vineyards, cultivated by several thousand farmers. White grape varieties dominate the area, but blue grapes also play a significant role. The unique microclimate of South Balaton is due to the proximity of Lake Balaton and the loess, and in places, lime-rich soil, which is favorable for fresh, elegant white wines, sparkling wines, and sparkling wines, as well as characterful red wines. The wine region has a long history, dating back to Roman times.
The aim of the wine is to connect quality winemakers, local gastronomy, and tourism, and to present the wines, wineries, and vineyards of South Balaton in an experience-based the wines, wineries and settlements of South Balaton to visitors.
The wine stations await visitors with wine tastings, programs, and events, while also offering the opportunity to discover the region's natural and cultural treasures.
