Unlike many tourists, Bálint Kovács, a photographer from Veszprém, chose not the classical way of capturing his experiences during his trip to Japan.

As well as documenting the many natural and built treasures, he focused his camera on the everyday lives of the Japanese people. Drawing on his years of experience as a press photographer, he has created a series of photographs that give an insight into the daily lives of the people of Japan. Small moments, simple habits that are often astonishing to European eyes, but which are part of the everyday routine of  life in Japan.

A Thousand Faces of Japan - On the Edge of Tradition and Modernity is a fascinating journey to the easternmost tip of Asia, where the photographer's colleague and friend has taken on the role of guide. Journalist Bálint Hajas takes visitors from the hustle and bustle of downtown Tokyo to the foothills of Mount Fuji and the pearl fishermen working on Mikomoto Island with his unusual guidebook entries.

The exhibition will open at a joint event with the photo exhibition of Csaba Toroczkai.
