Palermo Boogie Gang // Veszprém Blues Festival

For one concert only, the legendary Palermo Boogie Gang will be back together again, and this is your chance to see one of the most exceptional performances in Hungarian blues history!
The band was founded by harmonica player and singer-guitarist Béla Hagyó in the early ’80s. In the early days, he played with such outstanding musicians, especially in a duo line-up, such as Tamás Szikora, József Dénes “Dönci” or Jenő Fekete. Béla Hagyó left the country for good towards the end of the eighties, leaving the name to Jenő Fekete’s newly formed team at the time. The final line-up of the base band remained unchanged from 1988 until their dissolution in 1996. (Jenő Fekete - vocals, Tamás Szabó - vocals, harmonica, Gyula Bacsa - piano, chord ion, Róbert Kepes - bass guitar, István Mezőfi “Fifi” - drums.) During his active creative years, Palermo released four discs, CDs and played countless concerts at home and abroad. The list of guest musicians with whom they have performed or toured together is almost uncountable. (From Larry Garner, Big Jay McNeely, Ripoff Raskolnikov, Homesick Mac, Rolnald Abrams, Louisana Red, or the Greek Blues Wire formation that has just performed at this festival, with a multitude of Hungarian performers, e.g. György Pribill, Zsolt Benkő, Szabolcs Nagy, Imre Czomba, Tamás Takáts, Sarolta Zalatnay, József “Dodi” Kárpáti, Mátyás Pribojszki, László Makó, Lajos Weak… )
