Mirror–Face to Face / Italy–Hungary 2025 exhibition opening

Now in its eleventh edition, Mirror – Face to Face has become a renowned international event in the field of contemporary graphic art. Over the years, alongside its core Italian participants, numerous international artists have presented their works in Vicenza, reflecting the most important trends in the graphic art today.
In 2025, Hungary is the featured guest – a country with deep historical and cultural ties to Italy. This year’s Mirror – Face to Face becomes a meeting of old friends, set in a Europe that is seeking to redefine itself at the dawn of the digital age and the era of artificial intelligence.
Curated by Szonja Dohnál, the Hungarian section presents 27 artists (in collaboration with the Ajka Graphic Workshop and Tibor Csabai), while the Italian section features 27 artists selected by curators Valeria Bertesina and Roberto Nassi.
The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the current state of contemporary graphic art, opening a window into the world of the artists’ studios, their sources of inspiration, preferred techniques, and the fine balance between tradition and experimentation. This artistic project also serves as a platform for creative dialogue between the two nations.
Visitors are invited to explore the artworks through a kaleidoscope of subjective perspectives. Beyond individual and national characteristics, they can discover shared traits, visual dialogues, and points of connection – whether through symbolic references, abstract or figurative approaches, multimedia experimentation, or meticulous applications of traditional techniques. Without thematic or technical restrictions, the exhibition encourages free artistic expression and embraces hybrid forms that extend beyond the boundaries of graphic art.
This year, the exhibition will be presented at two venues: the Palladian Villa Caldogno (Caldogno, Vicenza) in Italy and the Dubniczay Palace (House of Arts Veszprém) near Lake Balaton in Hungary. In October, the project will continue at the Cultural Centre in Ajka, Hungary.
