What is the HelloVEB portal system and what is it used for?

The HelloVEB is a VeszprémBalaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program. This is a web platform that provides access to all cultural and leisure programs in the region on a single interface – including festivals, concerts, exhibitions, sporting events, and family programs. The goal of HelloVEB is to provide visitors and local residents with a single point of access to all information and services: browsing events, purchasing tickets, managing discount cards, etc.

An important feature of the system is that its database is modular: content entered once appears in multiple places. For example, if the organizer uploads an event, it will automatically be visible on the HelloVEB homepage, on the relevant thematic page (e.g. Sportrégió2026) and even on the microsites of partner settlements. This means that HelloVEB is capable of publishing multiple web pages with different filters (by area, by topic).

HelloVEB is part of the Tourism Management System (TMR), which integrates the program guide with the ticket sales system, the city (Veszprémkártya) and tourist cards (Veszprém-Balaton PASS), as well as other modules.

To use HelloVEB, it is advisable to register a user account. The registration process is simple:

• Create a profile: On the website, click on the Log in icon, then Create account. Accept the General Terms and Conditions (GTC), then enter your name, email address, and a password. You can also register with your Google account (in which case your Gmail address will be used).
• Confirmation: Email confirmation.
• Login: You can log in to your account later by clicking on the Login button and entering your email address and password. The system will remember your profile, so you can use the various modules with a single login.

Why register? Having your own account offers several advantages:

• Ticket purchase: Only logged-in users can purchase tickets for events online through HelloVEB. Your purchases are saved in your profile, so you can retrieve or download your tickets at any time.
• Favorites and notifications: When you log in, you can click on the ⭐ Favorite icon next to the programs to save events that interest you, even to your calendar. You can easily keep track of these in the Favorites list in your profile. You can also subscribe to newsletters or notifications so you don't miss out on any of your favorite events. Managing discount cards: You can manage your digital Veszprém-Balaton Pass or Veszprém Card data. If you have purchased such a tourist card (see below), it will appear here, and you can use it with your partners with the QR code stored in your profile.
• One account – multiple platforms: It is important to note that you can log in to all HelloVEB-related sites with the same registration. This means that you can use your Sportrégió2026.hu, VeszpremBalatonPass.hu, and even ticket purchasing platforms (e.g. jegy.helloveb.hu) all use the HelloVEB public account system. You don't need a separate account for each subpage – the system will identify you everywhere with a single login.

Tip: If you have forgotten your password, select the "Forgot your password?"rdquo; option on the login page, enter your email address, and follow the instructions. The password reminder email will arrive within a few minutes, allowing you to set a new password.

There are several ways to search and detailed filtering options:

• Free text search: You can enter keywords in the search box at the top of the page (e.g., "concert for children Balatonfüred" or "jazz festival"). The system searches the program titles and lists the relevant results. Browsing by date: You can browse upcoming events by date on the home page or in the Program Calendar module. You can also view a weekly/monthly calendar to see what's happening on which days.

• Using filters: You can apply multiple filters at once in the advanced search. These include:
  • Filter by location: You can select the settlement (e.g., Veszprém or Balatonfüred) and the attraction range, you can set a radius of up to 50 kilometers so that the system also shows programs in the surrounding area.
  • Filtering by category/type/genre: You can filter by genre or program type – for example, only family and children's programs, only exhibitions, only active, sports and exercise programs. HelloVEB's category system is hierarchical, with main categories and subcategories (e.g., main category: Culture, subcategory:nbsp;Theater), which you can combine.
  • Other filter criteria: You can find checkbox options such asbarrier-free venue, family-friendly, pet-friendly or seasonal filters (e.g. “🍷 Wine bar location,"🏖️ Events near the beach" – these may appear depending on the selection, even according to the season). Development is ongoing, and in the future you will be able to filter by additional criteria, such as air-conditioned venues or opening hours.

• Use the combined detailed filter: e.g., select the location, then narrow down the category. For example, you can set that you are only interested in "exhibitions in Balatonfüred".
• You can modify or delete your search criteria at any time. The interface indicates which active filters are enabled, and you can return to the default list (displaying all programs) with a single click.
• If you are searching for a specific date, use the calendar or enter the date in the search box (e.g., "March 15, 2024 programs").
• Program calendar module: In addition to the traditional list view, HelloVEB also offers a visual program calendar function. With its help, you can view events in a calendar layout. For example, you can view the programs for a given week or zoom in on a specific day. The program calendar view is linked to the detailed search, so the filters you set there will also apply here.

Sportrégió2026.hu is one of the thematic subpages of the HelloVEB portal system, which focuses specifically on sports and active events in the region. While the HelloVEB homepage lists all kinds of programs (cultural, gastronomic, family, etc.), the SportRégió2026 page operates with a preset filter: it only displays events in the "Active" category covering three counties. These include, for example, running races, hikes, cycling events, sporting events, health programs – everything related to exercise and sports. Similarities and connections:

• Sportrégi2026 works from the same database as HelloVEB. So if you see a sporting event on HelloVEB, you can also find it on the Sportrégió website, only there are no non-sporting events mixed in. It is the same system, only in the form of a thematic "filter portal."
• Login and profile: You can log in to Sportrégi2026.hu with the same username as on HelloVEB, and your favorites/tickets/cards are also available there from your profile. For example, if you mark a tour as a favorite on the Sportrégió website, it will also appear among your favorites on your HelloVEB profile, because you have an account in the background.
• Appearance: The design and menu of the Sportrégió page may differ slightly, as the “Active, sports & movement” allows specific content to be highlighted (e.g., news about the European Year of Sport 2026 program, sports tips in the magazine). However, the search engine and program list basically work the same as HelloVEB, except that the sports filter is automatically enabled.

• If you are an event organizer, a representative of an institution, or a tourism service provider who would like to publish your programs on the HelloVEB portal, you can join the system as a partner at any time. HelloVEB is an open platform for any regional settlement or organizer – program uploading is free of charge, and cooperation comes with many benefits. Here's what you need to do:
• Contact us and register as a partner: Visit the HelloVEB website at Join section. Here you will find a form where you can indicate your intention to join. You will need to fill in some information about your organization (name, email, category, etc.) and accept the partner terms and conditions. Registration is open all the time, so there's no deadline, and you can sign up anytime. Based on your application, the HelloVEB team will create an administrator account for you in the event upload system. You will then receive a response (by email) containing the login link (this is the URL of the admin interface, typically admin.helloveb.hu), as well as your username and a temporary password, which you must change when you log in for the first time. (Your registered email address will often be your username.)
• Logging in to the admin interface: The admin interface is similar to a content management system. Here you can maintain your own content. After logging in, you will see the modules to which you have access in the menu (e.g., Events, Locations, People/Groups, Articles, Film, Theater...).
• Training and guidance: As a new partner, we recommend that you review the training materials provided. The HelloVEB team has created videos and a detailed document presenting the basic principles of editing document that will guide you step by step through how to record an event, what data to provide, and what to pay attention to (e.g., image sizes, title formatting, SEO description completion, etc.). In addition, they often provide personal/online training to new partners – you can get information about this when you apply.

Another advantage is that HelloVEB provides prominent partners (primarily those offering discounts in the card system, e.g. Pass acceptance points) prominent visibility on the portal, e.g., in banners or recommendations. Once you have gained access as a partner, you can manage your content on the HelloVEB administration interface. The event creation process consists of the following main steps:

    • Location (Location): Every event has a location. First, check in the Location module to see if the event location (e.g., a museum, a club, a square) already exists. If not, create it (by entering the address, map, opening hours, etc.). If it already exists, you will be able to link it.
    • People / Groups: If the event involves performers or presenters (e.g., a band at a concert, an author at a book launch, a tour guide on a tour), they are also registered separately. This can be managed in the People/Groups module. If there is a relevant person (e.g., a famous performer), it is worth adding them as a separate entity, so that later , users can see their introduction and other events. Of course, it is not mandatory to record every participant, but it is recommended to record the most important ones. So, first things first: check and record all related entitiesso that when you add an event, you only have to select them from the list and don't have to add them from scratch (although the admin interface allows you to do so, it's better to do it in advance so as not to interrupt the process).
  • Creating a new event: Go to the Eventsmodule and select the Add new event button. A form will appear where you can enter the details of the event:
    • Title: Keep it short, attention-grabbing, and if possible, include the relevant keyword (e.g., event name). (A maximum of 60 characters is recommended for the title, because it will appear in lists and is also important from an SEO perspective.)
    • Description: Here you can describe the program in more detail. Try to keep the description clear and to the point. Include what the program is, when and where it takes place, who it is for, and what makes it interesting. In terms of formatting, the admin allows paragraphs, lists, quotes, and links. (The editing guidelines help you understand what the proper style is.)
    • Short summary (card text): This is a 1-2 sentence summary (80-120 characters) that appears on the program cards. Summarize the essence very concisely and interestingly, because it will be displayed under the title in the recommendation boxes on the main page, for example.nbsp;
    • IDate/Duration: Set the start date and time, and (if not a full day) the end date and time. . For multi-day or recurring events, you can enter each occurrence here.
    • Add location: Find the previously added location in the list and add it. If it is a very special case (e.g., "online event"), you can select a "virtual" location or add a comment.
    • Assigning people/groups: Similarly, select the relevant performers and organizers from the list. If someone is not included, you can add a new person here (but it is recommended to add them to the module first, see point 1).
    • Specifying categories: In the admin interface, you can select the type of program (e.g., music – concert or active – tour, etc.). This determines where it will appear (e.g., the Sports subpage will automatically list it if you select the "active" category).
    • Uploading images: Add a cover image for the event (this will appear on the list pages and at the top of the article). It is also possible to upload gallery images. Pay attention to the image dimensions: the system requires that, for example, the cover image be 1600x480 px (10:3), and card images must be 3:2 or 3:4, depending on the content. If you upload an image that is not the correct size, the system will automatically crop it, which may lead to undesirable results so it is worth resizing it in advance.
    • Ticket purchase / Registration link: If you need to purchase a ticket or register in advance for your program, you can enter the URL here. For example, if you are selling tickets for the event on jegy.hu, insert the ticket purchase link. A "Buy tickets" button will appear on the event page on HelloVEB.
    • Related links, videos: You have the option to embed a YouTube video (e.g., trailer, promo video) or recommend an external website (e.g., your official website)..
    • SEO data: At the end of the form, you will find the SEO description and Sharing descriptionstrong> fields. Enter a short, keyword-rich summary (max ~155 characters) of the event here – this will appear in Google search results and, for example, in the preview when sharing on Facebook. If you leave these blank, the system will generate something from the main description, but you will get much better results if you write a catchy text here yourself.
    • Tags: You can also add tags to the event, e.g., #St. Martin's Day, #family-friendly, etc. These can help with internal searches and are also visible to users. It is recommended to add only 2-3 relevant tags.
  • Saving and publishing: Once you have filled in all the required fields (the admin will notify you if anything is missing), you can save the event. At this point, you can decide whether to save it as a draft (not yet public) or publish it immediately. If you publish it immediately, the event will appear on the HelloVEB public page within a few seconds.
    • Check: After publishing, it is worth checking the HelloVEB interface to see what the event data sheet looks like. You can check that the formatting is correct, whether the image displays correctly on multiple devices (desktop, mobile), and whether the links work.
    • Editing, updating: You can return to the admin panel at any time to modify the content (e.g., if the start time changes or you want to expand the description). You can also make changes after publication, and they will be updated on the website.
  • Managing other content: In the admin panel, you can add not only events, but also other types of content, such as new Venues (if a new event venue opens in a city), People/Groups (e.g., a new band joins the lineup), or even Articles/Galleries (if you have permission to e.g. you post tourist news). In addition, in the Statistics/Analytics module, you will see the number of views of your own events, etc. – More on this in the next question.

  The system is designed to ensure that there are no duplicates and that all content is linked together. For example, if you try to create a location that already exists (e.g., Óváros Square in Veszprém), the system will warn you to search for the existing one in the list instead. The same applies to people. The admin viewis universal: you will also see other people's public content (you can see that someone has already added a given location, but of course you cannot edit it if it is not your event). This operating principle helps partners build a shared database that is useful to everyone (the , related content is grouped together, e.g., all future events for a performer are listed in one place).

  After successful upload, your event will appear on the HelloVEB website in the appropriate category, and users will be able to find it in the search engine.

  Tip: Take advantage of the platform's promotional opportunities: upload high-quality photos, write interesting descriptions, and, if possible, connect to social mediapromotion (e.g., indicate if there is a Facebook event, because HelloVEB editors sometimes take additional information from there or share the content).
